Modern telescopes use electronic sensors/detectors with various optical components in the light path. Based on the science goal the components could be changed under computer control. Traditionally this has been done with microcontrollers (one for each component) driving stepper motors with electromechanical sensors being used as discrete position encoders. This project envisages replacing multiple such modules with one XC1A based board. Implementation developed for this could be extended further for more complex multi-channel instruments.
