Simple board based on the L1 XMOS device, that adds VGA capability and audio to our (yet to be release) arduino style rapid protoytping system.
The design in its current form will support 4096 colours (4x4x4). Not sure if it will stay like this, testing will tell...
The baseboard communicates to the shield via SPI, so only 5 connections required.
Code is still being developed but the hardware is looking ok. Once complete we will release all the design files, hardware and software.
Were aiming yo have this board complete by September.

First video of the Arcade Shield in action!
The SolderCore team managed to pluck up the courage to make a video of the Arcade Shield running Defender. After much hilarity and embarrassment, but mercifully no alcohol, we managed to pull together a performance!

Arcade Shield is now production-ready.
Video only when it's of sufficient quality!
...this is being paired with something a little special. As the name says, it's an Arcade Shield. The shield is obviously soft, and the XC code that runs it will be out in the open for anybody to poke about with. However, this shield is very dear to my heart at present, along with the device that drives it which is ultra-cool.
Nice
Cant wait to see this finished
Have you tight of also adding PS/2 ports or game port so you can connect a keyboard mouse or joystick up to it. Also some external ram is very useful for doing color graphics, since that 64KB of internal one runs out real quick
Cool!
Cool, cant wait to see!
Not yet, the code is work in
Not yet, the code is work in progress. But we should have something in a month or so...
Do we have any videos of this in action?
Just wondering if you had any videos of this in action? Would be great to see the results. Keep us updated!
