Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

Wow... PGAs sound great! Probably either the first of the second one will be fine! Not sure about the noise characteristics... I am writing the control app for someone else and it is kind of at the "breadboard" state now... but he may have a feel for what sort of filtering will be needed i...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

I really like the idea of the "cut and paste" expandability! I also like the buffering/protection ideas! How would a variety of voltage ranges be handled? For instance if the voltage being measured really is only in, say the 0 to 5 volt range than it would be nice to use just that range so...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

I would like to use a DDS as a clock generator for the A/D D/A converters. You will then be able to create any sampling frequency with a few mHz of resolution. Makes things very easy to work with. This sounds great too!!! (although I have to admit that I need to read up on DDS's... I found the data...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

What about http://www.xcore.com/projects/high-speed-data-collection-dac-and-adc The nice thing is that I can digitally bypass my part to check if the A/D D/A is working, and you can place a digital signal generator in a thread and build you stuff, before the two parts is added toghether. Here is an...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

Ethernet ... Windows programming...l"] I think my skills would ends in a streaming channel end with ADC/DAC data from a custom made PCB board. Could you make the rest with interfacing it to the Host? ... Yes... I have done quite a bit of Windows programming, and quite a bit of network programm...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

This is the board from Sheldon that I used: ... After all mods, I started to draw my own board, but instead I found XMOS. So now, I would like to build an improved design of the AD/DA with better SNR + programmable antialias filters as a ... You can also take a look at the (old) Master-thesis proje...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

I have been using the LTC2600 as well, but with TI-DSP. What about signal conditioning? Do you need anti-alias filters, and do you need balanced inputs and or a PGA (Programmable Gain Amplifier) ? Exactly! Those are the sorts of "details" that come up! Did you handle all of the conditions...

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

If the peripheral board for the old AMD system does what you want, it might be easier and cheaper to interface that to the XS1-G via a simple adapter PCB. Possibly... As is the ADC and DAC are mounted on the "main" board, but they do have peripheral boards that also support these chips......

Re: High Speed data collection (DAC and ADC)

Both those chips have SPI interfaces, designing a PCB for them would be quite easy. Thank you for the encouraging and good news! Many of my undergrad course were in EE, but I switched to the (then brand new) Computer Science program, and I have spent the last 25 years in the software and firmware s...
