Re: xC on xcore.ai

Very interesting observation, I noticed the same when reading through the new product brief. But I believe xC and the specific assembler instructions that enable the versatility and real-time features won't go away any time soon. Having the benefit of well tested higher-level protocol implementation...

Re: Changing AVB network latency

I'm not 100% clear about your way of measuring latency and my practical AVB knowledge is some years old now, but I would always suggest measuring the latency in a loop-back configuration and "on the same side" of interfaces. In particular, by using a real oscilloscope and some simple funct...

Re: Sending TDM samples over UDP

I've had the same experience, lib_xtcp is not suitable for streaming data over UDP (neither over TCP, of course), at least if it should be a couple of 10s of MBits. Maybe the new FreeRTOS stack could do that better, but probably not (yet). I would also advise to make your own UDP packet builder. Esp...

Re: new xcore.ai - more details?

yeah, though it seems this time every logical core of max. 8 per tile (I love that they’ve reintroduced the old hardware thread term ;) would be able to get 100 MHz and run with up to 200 Mips in dual-issue mode

new xcore.ai - more details?

Hey, since there's still no thread about the new chip generation, I felt an urge to start this. :-) From the tech. white paper it looks like we could be getting minimum 2 cores running with 800 MHz each, that'd be amazing! I've got two burning chip package questions since I'm designing new boards ri...

New FreeRTOS port supposed to replace high-level libs?

Hello, I'm wondering if the new official Xmos port of FreeRTOS is the way to go in the future for providing all kinds of "higher level" protocols? It was announced here: https://www.xcore.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&p=37084 by mbruno (I can't comment in that thread). Because if this is more...

Re: Blue Pill for XMOS?

I fully agree! There have been some attempts by the community in the past but it was ever enough to gain traction. And now, with the recent website update, unfortunately it doesn't look like XMOS is still interested at all in offering a general purpose platform. Personally, I started experimenting w...

Re: "Programming XC on XMOS Devices" book to sell?

It's really a good read, I had it printed at the time in 2 pages per A4, double sided.
But it's really missing important improvements that came along with the newer XS2 architecture. A lot of details changed or are not relevant anymore and better done in another way now.

Re: FlexFX XMOS tiny USB/DSP Board

Hi mark, what an amazing work! I've seen this already being discussed on another forum and was waiting for the final release. Backed it instantly. The USB-MIDI upload is awesome. Do you plan to publish your XMOS firmware, too? I think these kind of small and universal modules is exactly what the com...
