New rocket design : XMOS will fly high in the sky!

Post by mifay »

Hi everyone!

The Oronos team is proud to present you a new rocket design. Please note that the placement of our partners' logo is still approximative.

Many thanks to XMOS and its amazing community for helping us making this come true.

Test launches will be made at the RocketFest near Drummondville, Qc around May 19th 2012.

Utimately, we will participate to the ESRA competition in June 21th 2012. The rocket will try to reach the closest to 10 000 feet above Utah's ground.

@Andy

XMOS will be part of the avionic module of the rocket. More technically, it's going to take data from several captors (accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, GPS coordinates, etc) and it's going to calculate results such as (landing position, parachute releasing, etc). It's also gonna send us precious data back to ground with an XTEND. This will allow us to see interesting data in real time on our computer screen while the rocket will be in the air.

@Ali

The rocket isn't finished yet, but mighty engineers are working on it. They have released interesting pictures of their work on the rocket nosecone.

I'm bumping this thread for a small update about our test launch.

Everything went successfully and we're feeling well prepared for June competition! Here's an astonishing picture of our baby.
