I just got round to listening to a recording of this week's The Material World on Radio 4. David May was involved in a discussion about technology in the UK.

Whist the programme starts with the discussion involving David and Xmos, it ends with a discussion about turning off the traffic lights outside the Xoffice!

These are due to be turned off at some point - should be fun!

On two occasions I have been asked, 'Pray, Mr. Babbage, if you put into the machine wrong figures, will the right answers come out?' I am not able rightly to apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a question.
