More than one USB on G4?

Post by mnrsmith »

Hi,

Just getting into a design idea for the G4 and I was wondering....

I see some ref designs have the 12 ULPI pins starting at P1E0.

Is it possible to have two USB chips, first on at P1E0 and second one at say P1A0. Then during run time switch USB input sources between them?

Anyone tried something like this?

Thanks

Mark

You can only use the ports in the datasheet for ULPI, the other ports will NOT work (there's some hardware to assist ULPI interface).

That said, you can hook up a USB PHY on each core which brings the maximum on a G4 (512 BGA) to 4 USB PHYs
