just made this subject to check if anyone has found any solution
from myself I can add that when I run xTimecomposer without administrator mode it does see the startkit hardware, however I can not build an application as it gives 'e05 Access is denied' mistake
however, when I run xtimecomposer from virtual box on a windows xp or from safe mode with administrator permissions verse versa process occurs: it can build applications, but it doesn't see the startkit hardware
ps. windows 7 64bit i have

a more detailed question would be:
what kind of drivers does it need to operate properly and see the hardware properly?

Hi,
No explicit drivers installation is needed; installing xTIMEcomposer is sufficient.
Can you double check if your host USB interface is USB 2.0 (not USB 3.0!)?

I have seen this kind of problem twice.

One was diagnosed as a sub-standard USB cable. Change cable, problem solved.

The other was a laptop with a USB 3 port. The owner was an IT guy who didn't realise his laptop had any USB 3 ports. Change to a USB 2 port, problem solved.
