xCORE-XA end of life and ARM

Post by aclassifier »

Now that xCORE-XA has reached end of life [1]..

..does this also imply that there will be no more XCOREs with ARM on board?

If yes, how long will xTIMEcomposer support mixed projects?

If no, which other XCOREs would have an ARM on board?

(Update 5Mar2017: I haven't found anything about whether the processor has been obsoleted and there is no ANTICIPATED IMPACT: like "XS1 XA-series obsolescence" in the End of Life note. I still have my two unused boards that I hope I can throw myself over with any new xTIMEcomposer. I was after the xCore-ARM in-one-package relation, not the board per se)

Hello Øyvind,

As per the PCN that you link to, the XA board is End Of Life.
At the present time :
We continue to support the XA devices in the tools but have no plans to add any further XA related features
We do not have any publicly announced plans for an xCORE-200 device with on-chip ARM core.

I would recommend the xCORE-200 Explorer kit (https://www.xmos.com/support/boards?product=18230) or sliceKIT (https://www.xmos.com/support/boards?product=19729) for future developments. The xCORE-200 sliceKIT is not currently shipping from ditstribution becasue we have an updated product in the final stages of release and this will be shipping shortly.

Best regards,
John
