Is XCORE-200 MC AUDIO glitches free?

Post by ffomich »

Hi!

Can anybody who has XCORE-200 MC AUDIO board help me?

What to do:
build original project sw_usb_audio-[sw]_6.15.2rc1.zip\app_usb_aud_xk_216_mc in configuration 1i2o2xxxxxx
load firmware image into the board
connect board to Windows PC (Win7 x64 or any other)
switch XMOS playback audio device modes (16bits/44100Hz, 16bits/48000Hz, 24bits/44100Hz, 24bits/48000Hz) and play test sound.

Are there any crackling/glitches in any mode in playback sound?

I have selfmade board based on XE216-512-TQ128-C20 and use sw_usb_audio-[sw]_6.15.2rc1.zip ref design. I have crackling in output sound while playing in 24/44100 mode. Please help me verify original board hasn't this artefact.

Thanks in advance.

I have the board and I can confirm that it can play audio glitch free. I went through the device modes you mention (and also 96kHz) and while there is an ever so faint "pop" sound when I play the test tone after switching to a new bit-depth/Sample Frequency for the first time, on subsequent tries it does not appear. It is not annoying and does not sound like crackling.

Does the problem only happen when you play the test sound from the windows control panel? What about other audio? Are you using the same DAC as in the demo board?

Hi,

I have crackling when I play sine wave files using VLC and AIMP also. Files are in different formats: 16/44100, 16/48000, 24/44100, 24/48000.
Are you using the same DAC as in the demo board?
No, there is CODEC chip AK4621.
It seems it's not DAC issue because I hear crackling from digital S/PDIF output.

I think something wrong is with clocking. PLL chip is CS2300.
