xTimecomposer will not connect to xmos.com.

I'm trying to complete the tutorial with my new startKIT and have installed the software.  When I look for the samples the header says connection to https://www.xmos.com failed.  I've tried reinstalling the software, re-downloading and reinstalling and cjhecked the login ID and password with no change.  I suspect its something simple but I cannot see it.  Any pointers?

If you are are able to register using the tool and open it, it more sounds like the machine is connected to the internet using a proxy. If this is the case, you can set the proxy settings using the answer that is suggested in the Q&A section for the following question:
