Digital PDM & electret Microphones

Hello Everyone,
I have two question here and I hope help me for answers:

1- If I want to buy Mic array to use it for Speech Recognition, What is the Mic array products now in market?

2- Why most of devices like Amazon Alexa and Google use MEMS Microphone Array ( Digital PDM Mic) not ?, other hand most robots use electret Microphone Array not MEMS digital Microphone Array?

MEMS mics are cheaper and smaller also they are almost always omni-directional. See also:

Digital mics remove the need for an extra A/D from you system BOM which is a massive advantage for consumer products.

For microphone arrays, there is the solution from XMOS or the following which is also based on the new XMOS processor but assembled in China:

However, there is a long waiting list. We placed our order around last November and just received our confirmation yesterday that the boards have now shipped.
