xTimeComposer 12.0 Beta OSX and XC-1A [FIXED]

Post by franksanderdo »

Hi Ho

It seems I am to stupid to get things moving forward ;-(
I have running the xTimeComposer 12.0beta on my OSX 10.8.2

Have done my first Testprogram, but when I wanted to run it on the XC-1A the board does not get shown as Target in the run configuration.

I checked within the OSX System Information:
The XC-1A is there registered on USB:

Code: Select all

XC-1A 1V0:

  Produkt-ID:	0x6010
Hersteller-ID:	0x0403 (Future Technology Devices International Limited)
  Version: 5.00
  Seriennummer:	81210268
  Geschwindigkeit:	Bis zu 12 MBit/s
  Hersteller:	XMOS
  Standort-ID:	0xfd130000 / 5
  Verfügbare Stromstärke (mA):	500
  Erforderliche Stromstärke (mA):	500
who has any Idea what I could do wrong?
I know I did have it running with one of the earlier XDEs but that one is gone as the related Computer was replaced.

Edit:
Just tried with XDE 11.2 and that one finds the board
Thanks in advance for helping
Frank

Do you have the separate power connected, or are you powering it
over USB? The latter does not always work in my experience.

Hi segher,

thanks for answering.
I have power over USB.

Just figured with the old XDE 11.2 that this one can see the board.
You think this would work if Power would be the Problem?

Thanks for helping

Ok some testing further:

it is a Problem with the 12.0 Beta
I have it tested now serveral times, switching between 11.2 and 12.0
each time the 11.2 works fine but 12.0 nothing.

Will try now to see if the XK1A gets detected in 12.0

Edit:

XK1A is working fine in 12.0
Is it possible that there is some information for the XC-1A missing in 12.0 ?
Will try next the 11.11.1...

Just during some research I found this https://www.xmos.com/node/14815 which says that only XS1-L devices work!?
I am confused now... does that tell me that the 12.0 does not any longer support the XC-1A which carries a XS1-G? Even worth, what happens with the XS1-SU??

The XC-1A is supported by 12.0, I will investigate what could be causing your issue but it is certainly still a supported dev board as far as its use with the latest tools.

Hi Matt,

as I said, I got confused with that paper.
It seems I was looking at it to late at night ;-)

Reading again this morning, I understand it is talking in the first paragraph only about possible networks.

Never mind, my problem stays the same. XK-1A is recognized as target. XC-1A not.
I very much wpuld like to stick on 12.0 because there the new naming convention is implemented.
As a newbie it is not really fun to get confused between threads and cores and tiles ;-)

Thanks for looking into it

Edit:
After downloading XDE 11.11.1 I can say now:
it is only the 12.0 which is not recognizing the XC-1A.
All this only for OSX as mentioned above.
In WIndows 7 the Board is recognized by 12.0

I'll test this. I also have a XC-1A (and 2 XC-1s) and Mac OSX. I wanted to upgrade, so definitely need to test this...

Hi ale500,

that would be fantastic.
I have, for the time being, switched to 11.11.1 in order to start the learning curve.
Still I guess it would be better to learn on 12.0 with the new naming convention.

Thanks for helping
