I see we've just got some more spam!

I've virtually eliminated spam from the groups I run by moderating new members' first post. If it is acceptable, I switch them to unmoderated status. It involves very little work, even with the LPC2000 group which has over 9,000 members.

Leon,
this is always the same pb when you run your forum on a well known platform like PHPBB. You can't avoid spam unless you do some custom modifications on initial code.

btw Aftedyroory seems still able to do posts !!! :ugeek:

I like this idea although slightly worried about time to first post. Is there a PHPbb module for this? Will certainly look in to this.

Maybe it could be extended so that people who have over x posts can also "approve" these first time posters to ensure time to first post is kept minimal.

Naturally if someone approves spam then they themselves can be deleted.

This way we can use the power of our super community to help keep things flowing as there are many regulars who check in throughout the week/weekend.

What do people think?
