XS1-U availability?

Post by lieser »

I picked up the DJ kit, got my proof of concept up and running. This is great. Now I'm moving on to designing a PCB prototype. But I can't find any availability of parts for the XS1-U line.

When I first started looking at XMos as as solution the XS1-U8A-64 was available at Digikey. Anyone know when more will hit the shelves? What is availability going to look like in the future? I note that XMos is fabless, is it worth designing a product around this tech? Am I going to regret the effort when I can't get parts to meet production requirements

Shared concern - I am within the same window of project design and, although targeting a different part, have similar concerns around pre-production and production availibility.

As of this date, when I check availability of my target part, there are around 500 worldwide.

I have informed XMOS-direct of my quantities/target dates and hopefully production is adjusting according to my and other customers' stated needs with additional margin.

Regarding the XS1-U parts ...

At some point the XS1-SU1 series retired. Although I do not see a clear "was .. is" table, looking at the datasheet shows the XS-SU1 pinout is the same as the XS1-U8A-64-FB96. Looking at other specs for the XS-SU1 part, I would say the XS1-SU01A-64-FB96 migrated to the new name XS1-U8A-64-FB96.

Digikey shows "other names" of the XS1-U8A-64 as:

XS1-SU01A-FB96-C5
XS1U8A64FB96C5

Future: Qty in stock = 168

The part number decoder ring is here (but not for this case):

http://www.xmos.com/download/public/xCO ... 1.2%29.pdf

It would have been nice to have this link on this page:

http://www.xmos.com/support/documentation/xcore

and possibly in the "buy" area

http://www.xmos.com/buy

... after the fact editing:

Anyone else have the PCN and/or marking list that covers the SU01A part?

XS1-SU01A-FB96 and XS1-U8A-64-FB96 are the same part.

The fact that the xCORE part list didn't show the old/new part numbering was an error which has now been fixed. The latest version of the document is available at:

Looks like several items previously flagged have also been fixed.

Your efforts related to this thread and other fixes are appreciated.

Huw,

I'm looking at the new list and have a question regarding the information's integrity.

When I look up my part with marking "US1150L2 C5", this converts to "USMMYYL2 C5". Searching on this, I find the following (from https://www.xmos.com/en/download/public ... 1.3%29.pdf):

XS1-L16A-128-QF124-C10 16L7C10 XS1-L02A-QF124-C5 USMMYYL2 I5
XS1-L16A-128-QF124-I10 16L7I10 XS1-L02A-QF124-I5 USMMYYL2 C5

I've bold/underlined the part in the last column which is the match for my search term. I've also included context of the preceding row since it helps illustrate my question of the data's integrity.

What I see is my "C5" part /marking/ matches the old part /number/ ending in "-I5". The preceding row, which old part /marking/ ends in "I5" matches a part /number/ ending in "-C5".

My logic is telling me that these two marking vs. number associations should be switched.

Finding one error in the associations is cause for concern of the integrity of the rest of the data.

Please double-check and make corrections if necessary.
