Is my XC-2 or XTAG Dead?

Technical discussions related to any XMOS development kit or reference design. Eg XK-1A, sliceKIT, etc.

You could try hooking up some other JTAG master, if you have one, perhaps.
I think tms does toggle, but I'll check tomorrow as it's late here in oz. I have a Xilinx (Digilent) JTAG, could that be made to work? Thanks for your help.
Sure, just wire all the standard JTAG pins (TDI/TDO/TMS/TRST/TCLK and GND, maybe Vdd).

Your JTAG software needs to be able to handle generic stuff though. Simply reading the
IDCODE after reset would be enough for the test; if that works, you know your target
chip isn't the culprit.

Of course the easier test would be if you just had an extra XTAG-2 or target board ;-)

Thanks very much for your help. I've gone over the XC-2 with a fine tooth comb, and all signals look fine to me, it's just not responding to JTAG signals. Warranty ran out 3 months ago, isn't it always the way!

Just an update. I re-flowed soldered the 512 pin CPU today. Good news the chip survived, bad news is that it did not fix the problem.

Any ideas for further fixes etc much appreciated. ;)

PS I ordered a new XC-1A from Digi-Key today

Hi Roger,

Lets just hope they last a bit longer than mine did! Good time to buy as the dollar is near parity!

Off topic, but where in Oz are you located, I'm in Werribee, Victoria. No probs if you wish to keep it private though!

Hi Jim,

My XC-1A board will travel a bit further south.

I am in Rotorua New Zealand.

I'm a KIWI.

Cheers, Roger...

Been about 24 years since I've visited NZ and Rotorua, my eldest brother married a kiwi.

Hi Jim,

Way too long since you visited our City.

How about Joining the "Downunder" group. There are a couple of Kiwi's and I think two Aussies at the moment.

Cheers, Roger...
