My name is Mike Ferguson, I'm a Computer Science PhD student at SUNY Albany. I've done some electrical engineering in my undergraduate work, although my final degree was in Mathematics. My area of research is in robotics. My school supported work is in Social Robotics, much of my personal work tends more into walking robots, and recently, machine vision.
I've been an AVR user for about 6 years. The cost of ARM-level development tools, and my dislike of the complexity of dealing with embedded operating systems, has kept me from moving into faster and better chips. The XMOS has been an amazing relief to use: the speed and power to perform, with a very clean programming interface.
