Where's the link to an overview of the series?

What's the nomenclature in the naming?

Correct. We have stopped supporting this series with new compiler versions.

XS1 A-Series

A = Analog - Basically an XS1-U with no USB PHY. i.e. just DC-DCs + ADC

XS1 L-Series

Vanilla logic only XS1 device (L stands for 'low power' c.f. G-series)

XS1 U-Series

U = USB (+ DC-DCs + ADC)

XS1 XA-series

XA = eXtened Architecture, or Xmos/ARM. Single tile XS1-L + ARM M3 cortex

XS1 G-Series (Not recommended for new designs, no compiler support from xTIMEcomposer 14.2.2)

G = "General" purpose device. Our first chip.

Any more?

xCORE-200 U (USB PHY), L (no PHY using L as per XS1), E (USB PHY + RGMII interface i.e. E=Ethernet, although any of them can do MII interface to 100Mbps PHY)

It's so complicated to paste the list from my blog here, so I'll just leave it there (XMOS series of processors). I am not certain if I got it right, but I want it right! I would be glad for corrections.

Are the xCore-200 also called

• xCore-200 U-Series
• xCore-200 L-Series
• xCore-200 E-Series

?

I got the semantics but not the nomenclature as related to the most significant part numbers. But I might as well stop where I am.

Allow me to re-order your list slightly :

xCore-200 XL-Series - these are general purpose devices with no USB or Ethernet
xCore-200 XU-Series - incorporates USB interface
xCore-200 XE-Series - incorporates Gigabit Ethernet and USB interface

I have updated in my blog note about how xCORE-VOICE XVSM-2000 processor may be categorised [1]. Is it a separate entry?

Indeed the XVSM-2000 is a separate processor and hopefully the first in a long line of processors that are part of the xCORE-VOICE family.

John, thanks. I have added it to the table, but the table doesn't come out "symmetrical". There is now some "series" and some "family": http://www.teigfam.net/oyvind/home/tech ... processors. Is the taxonomy now correct enough?
