How can I read the internal status and configuration registe

I hope noone minds if I answer my own question.
There is a xgdb script on github for reading some of the registers through xgdb:
https://github.com/xcore/xgdb_scripts
The key command seems to be
sysreg read $tap 1 0x0
print /x $sysregval
but I am not sure what the fields mean to sysreg even though I can tell what registers this command prints. It seems like the "1" determines which "tile" and the 0x0 is an offset.
The xlreg script prints out some of the registers in the xl.
