Meanwhile these guys http://www.parallax.com are designing their next generation of 8 core 32 bit micro-controller http://www.parallax.com/tabid/407/Default.aspx on a much much smaller budget.

I remember Sussman's students at MIT designing a LISP chip as a project, it didn't take them long. A friend of mine went to a lecture by Sussman, he wore one of the chips as a tie clip. I found his paper:

I hope they invest in Bristol, Kent and of course Xmos.
Xmos go's along way to bring software to displace this cost.
Xmos could be at the right place at the right time.
I think the tools are mailable enough for systems and EDA.
All though getting there is easier said than done.
I'm all in! 8-)
