XC-2 and XTAG2?

Post by narutoxela »

I have heard that you can connect an XTAG2 to an XC-2 kit and make it work with a simple mod. What is the mod, how to do it?

The XTAG-2 provides power on pin 1 of the XSYS connector, the XC-2 also provides power on pin 1 of the XSYS connector in order to power the XTAG-1 it was designed to work with. You will need to disconnect this on either the XTAG-2 or the XC-2 in order for them to function correctly together.

I simply desoldered the small green fuse (labeled F1) on the XTAG2, shifted it sideways and re-soldered it with only one pad. that way you can't lose it. but remember the XSCOPE feature won't work, since this is only available with L1/L2 based boards. flashing and debugging will be a lot faster, though. :-)

I'll probably mod my two XC-2 boards.

Just to note the XK-1 will need to use an external power supply once the XTAG-2 no longer provides power if you still plan on using it with those boards.
