Round Trip Latency Vs Channel Count

Post by dkybchoi »

Hi,

I am using xCORE-200 Multichannel Audio Platform. I found the round trip latency

For example : DAW Out --> USB --> XMOS ( I2S loopback ) ---> USB ---> DAW In

is consistent and it is around 1.9ms for channel counts : 18 in + 18 Out or 6 In + 6 Out.

When I set the channel count to 2 In + 4 Out . The round trip latency will be dramtically

increased by 1ms in USB 2.0 Audio Software 6.12.6 and more worse in USB 2.0 Audio Software

6.15.2 . which probably increase 2 or more ms .

My question are :

1. What is the dependency of the round trip Latency and number of Channel Count ?

2. Do you think the phenomenon is normal ?

3. It seems USB 2.0 Audio Software (6.15.2 ) has some problems when USB In = 2 USB Out = 4 in when running in xCORE-200 Multichannel Audio Platform. Besides the round trip latency will be increased more, the signal from analog output is not as good as other channel count setting. One of analog input will be directly routed to one of analog output. All of these are bugs ?

Thanks

Regards,

Derek

My understanding is that this is being dealt with via the xmos.com ticketing system and/or FAE
