Does the program you are booting access the flash in any way? All I can think is your program sets the flash into a different mode which the xcore cannot then boot from.
The reset switch resets the xcore but does not reset the flash.

Hi Joe,
The issue appears to be that there is no output from pin 4 of U9 (ADM1085)when the reset switch is pressed when probing on test point TP21 (signal name POR). The low-going reset level from the switch is ok going into pin 1 of U9. Even with the level of magnification in the photo, it's still difficult to see clearly, but it looks like pin 6 of U9 is damaged. Given the fine pitch of the package and my eyesight not being as good as it was, I'll see if I can persuade someone to change it, however as the ENOUT output of the ADM1085 is open-drain, I'm wondering whether a pragmatic solution is a jumper wire from R47 to R45?

Yes, fitting a new ADM1085 IC fixed the reset issue.
