Hi, i´m want making a general purpose dev. board for xmos and the 64pin device at the moment.
The board should have usb-rs232 interface chip and 2mbit spi memory. Actually i´m thinking of using
4pins for rs232 including the handshake pins. For the memory i need 4 pins too.
I could use the CS from the memory and connect it to the reset pin on the usb device sharing some
pins. this permit needing only 5 pins. On the other side, i could omit one pin from rs232 reducing the
pins to 4. The jtag is included into rs232 device. What pins make most sense ?
Or should i leave the rs232 interface to pinheader and let connect the users the pins itself using solder
jumper, eventually already soldered and leave the spi interface as is.
New board.

A look at the old XC-5 schematic might be a helpful start for you:

No problem, i was just asking because i want hear some preferences about pin assigments.
As example i don´t like mutch the X0D01 used as SS instead of the X0D00 because this inhibits the
possiblity using Xlink-A as 5bit mode.
