Forum eats posts

Post by segher »

Whenever I try to write a long reply on this forum, when I'm done and
hit "preview" or "submit", my text disappears into the void. It never happens
with short replies. Perhaps this is some timeout, if you take more than
10m or 15m or so to reply, it just dumps you back at the original "reply"
screen? If so, can that timeout be removed please, or at least set to something
more sane like 48h?

Thanks,

Segher

Think I got this solved now. Doubled the session time out.

Great, thank you!

Are you sure double is good enough though? How long was it?
The thing that makes this real nasty is that you completely lose
whatever reply you have typed, when it took you a long time to
do type, not fun :-P

Yeah I've had the issue myself a few times and it is annoying.

Do you get a time out error message? I've increased it to 10 minutes, but I made modify the php timeout settings and not the forum settings instead if I can.

Well I've upped it to 7200 seconds now, which is two hours. That should be more than enough time to submit a reply!

No, it immediately puts me back at the reply screen, with all the
original contents, as if I hadn't typed anything.

Yes two hours is probably enough, thanks again!

That's really odd. I've searched for similar issues but they all had error messages. Hopefully this'll fix it.
