What is XTAG-PRO

I notice on the xTimeComposer Enterprise comparison sheet it shows 'XTAG-PRO' under both enterprise and community editions, what is Xtag pro?

It looks like it is supplied when you subscribe to the Enterprise development suite:

It is available separately for $750.

They probably haven't geared up for full production, yet.

It seems to be some new hardware (with accompanying
software, of course). Could dig up more, but it's more
efficient to just wait for it to be announced I suppose :-)

p.s. It seems to be similar to the startkit debugger in some
ways. Interesting :-)

I think the 16-pin box header on the Analog SliceKit might be designed to connect to the 16-pin box header on the XTAG-PRO. Maybe the header on the Analog SliceKit breaks out the voltage rails and analogue current signals along with XD1 and XD0. That would allow the XTAG-PRO to easily monitor voltages and power consumption.

Is this the same thing as the XTAG-3 mentioned in the xTIMEcomposer Studio 13.1.0 release notes?

Ah yes good thinking TSC, that could well be the unreleased functionality via the H boxed header on the analogue slice kit.

Not seen any references to Xtag3...

$750 is rather steep!!

Speculation: XTAG-3 is an XTAG-2 using one of the XMOS chips with in-package USB PHY.

I like using the Energy Micro profiling tools with Gecko hardware (now Silicon Lab's simplicity studio and parts). Their dev tools hardware and software are less than £50 all in. Another cheaper way to do profiling on Xmos is to use something like an INA226 as I have in my Proteus board, this will enable you to use Xscope to pass back the power profiling quite economically. It would not be hard to adapt the Proteus technique to add an adapter to an Xtag2 and use the Rx/Tx lines as I2C and hook up the INA226 that way, some code would be required to mod xtag2 obviously

P.S. Energy profiling would also be a simple addition to the next startkit, Hint Hint Xmos..
