Since we need a much larger boot flash, I replaced the flash at U4 on startkit with a larger version.
But, when I plugged in the USB cable, the led's did their usual dance, like there is still a code image running.
Tell me how this can be, since the new boot flash chip had not been programmed.

OTP - there's 8KB of it per tile so enough for the XTAG debugger code on the debug tile and startup/demo code on the user tile.
If there is no valid application boot image on the SPI to load (which obviously there won't be when you remove it!) then it's business as usual..
