Hey nice find, these look like very cool additions to the range and would be great for some of the bigger projects I am working on.

I also wonder what the availability of some of these are as I have a commercial design right now that could benefit from this new range.

Interesting. I like the sound of gigabit ethernet (though I expect it'll only be 250Mbps or so throughput), the faster core speeds and 32 logical cores on a single package. Could make board and software design a lot easier.

If that pricing is anywhere near accurate they'll be cheaper than the current range too.

Why would the gbit be low throughput? I don't see any
reason for that.

Those chips are still "only" 500MHz, but dual issue. If it
has higher bandwidth to memory as well, that should give
some nice extra oomph, but it won't be twice as fast on
most code.

I noticed the pricing as well -- finally something realistic,
if true :-)

I guess I'm expecting not-1gbps throughput because the old/forgotten gigabit implementation with a G4 (?) was restricted to about 200mbps because of internal bottlenecks. And given that the current 100mbps needs quite a lot of optimisation speed-wise, doubling the core speeds I wouldn't expect to be able to get 10x throughput. Also, I'm lowering my expectations in the hope of being surprised rather than disappointed :-)

Looking forward to seeing more info on this new range though - it could come at a very convenient time for me.

Awesome! A XU part in a TQ package. Maybe I don't need to do a BGA after all.

More memory ok.

Any word on when parts will be available? XU208-128-TQ64?

Are existing parts going to be available for a while, or do these take over?

Thanks.

Christmas list:

[X] Faster
[X] Lots more memory
[X] Onboard flash

Was that sleigh bells I am hearing at this time of year?

Hi everyone,

Expect an official announcement later today, but yes, xCORE-200 is the new range of XCORE microcontrollers and the data that digikey have (accidentally) released a bit early, is correct.

There's more to come with the website than just a simple product update as well. But to start with, later today you will see the new xCORE-200 products go live on there as well as another product surprise.

How does one get hold of an xCORE-200 eXplorerKIT?
