Hello everyone,
i know there already is another thread about connecting two startKits, but i created a new one as the other one is primarily about JTAG chaining.
Before i start soldering i want to make sure i understood everything correctly.
So here are my questions:
1) The startKit guide says, that this board has to be powered by the onboard micro USB slot or else correct functionality is not guaranteed. So why are there 5V and 3.3V pins on the J8 header, that is used to connect multiple boards? Should i leave these two pins unconnect and plug a micro USB cable in both boards or do i have to connect these pins so the second board is powered by the first one?
2) Each of the two XConnect Interfaces (C/D) has 4 wires:
0 Out, 1 Out, 0 In, 1 In
How should they be connected?
Board A <-> Board B
0 Out <-> 0 In
1 Out <-> 1 In
0 In <-> 0 Out
1 In <-> 1 Out
Is that correct?
Regards,
Benjamin

You cannot chain the JTAG pins of startKIT because each startKIT has a seperate JTAG. You can however use the following answer for the question to connect two startKITs using xCONNECT links:
http://www.xcore.com/questions/2150/can ... xmos-links
For the above, you need to connect the links as shown below:
0 Out <-> 0 In
1 Out <-> 1 In
0 In <-> 0 Out
1 In <-> 1 Out
http://www.xcore.com/questions/2150/can ... xmos-links
For the above, you need to connect the links as shown below:
0 Out <-> 0 In
1 Out <-> 1 In
0 In <-> 0 Out
1 In <-> 1 Out

Thanks sethu for your answer...
But i never asked something about JTAG chaining in my question. The moderator must have changed the topic, so i just changed it back and made it a little bit more precise.
Actually i want to connect my startKits via the xConnect links.
The same thing 'mio' wanted to do in his question, that you already posted a link to:
http://www.xcore.com/questions/2150/can ... xmos-links
But as mio's last message in the link above states, he never got it running??
So the question is... was this a software problem, or a problem with the connection of the two startKits?
And i still don't know what to do with the 5V and 3.3V pins:
- Power the second board via its own microUSB cable?
- Or power the second board via the 5V and 3.3V pin headers?
