Performance for Driving a Pattern Out

Post by noobie »

This is more of a pre-sales question...

With crazy 800Mhz clock speeds on ARMs these days, I'm looking at replacing an fpga design with a microprocessor based one.

Xmos looks very interesting to me, but I'm wondering about the performance, specifically,

1) how fast could it drive an arbitrary pattern from memory to an I/O?

2) What kind of resolution can be achieved when shifting that pattern?  For example, could a pattern be shifted in time by .5ns?

Is there any literature somewhat related to this type of application?
