Ordering "XL216-512-TQ128-C20"

Post by xaerox »

Hello everybody,
I think I'd a mistake while creating a layout for my new XMOS-Project, because I did it with the XL216-512-TQ128-C20.
Finally I have the board here now an I'm trying to get 3 pieces of these processors.
Most distributors says, that I have to order 90 pieces, which I don't need.
Can anybody help me, getting only 3 pieces of this processors?

Kind Regards,
Thomas Künzl

Hello Thomas. I think you have a few (limited) options:

a) XMOS may be able to source the 3 pieces for you - perhaps check with your local FAE

b) someone in this user forum can assist you but you must be careful on the shipping to your location to avoid any bent pins. Unless you will solder by hand (perhaps not possible due to the metal belly of this component) - most AOI equipment will refuse to mount the device if there are bent (non coplanar) TQFP pins so please proceed with caution.

c) perhaps the recommended choice from our side is for you to source and stuff the bigger brother of this device:

XEF216-512-TQ128-C20

http://www.digikey.com/product-search/e ... -TQ128-C20

The XEF216 is the same device but with more features which you will not be enabling.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your answer!
I wrote to XMOS with the hope, that they can help me getting 3 pieces.
I'm also trying to contact the board producer to abort the procedure. So I will be able, to change my layout to another processor.

Kind regards,
Thomas Künzl.

Hi Thomas. Glad to help, where we can. May we ask how much you are paying for your PCBs ? Are you 2L or 4L ? We found a very nice quality PCB shop in Shenzhen for our prototyping but we are ordering in perhaps higher qty. If you need help with PCBs, let us know.

I ordered the PCB at Basista (in Germany) https://www.basista.de/
I'd a 2l-Layout and it costs about 65 €.
Thank you for your suggestions.
I hope the PCB producer can stop the order, so finally I can change the layout to another processor. That will be makeable without any problems.

Thank you for your help,

Thomas
