Hi all,
After having some problems with the configuration of my XHRA-2HPA board (details here : https://www.xcore.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=4345), I solved most of them by working with the development board.
Now I get a board which is loading the firmware/configuration properly and which is recognized as a speaker by the computer. But if I try to play a test sound, I get an error ('Failed to play test tone') on windows, or just wanna read with foobar or itunes and mac.
Because the development board is working, I assume the problem comes from my board, my guess is it is from the configuration but I may be missing something. Do you have encounter similar problems or do you have any idea where could it be from?
Thanks
XHRA-2HPA can't play sound

Hello,
Can you expand a little - does it work on a Mac or not?
Can you screenshot the Audio Midi Setup screen on a Mac?
Cheers,
Henk

Hello,
Thanks for the help, I'll try to clarify then : it is not working, either on windows or mac.
Actually I am mostly working on windows currently, here are both the error message I get and the device manager that shows how the device is recognized. Everything seems to be ok except that I can play sound through the board and I have no life at the SPDIF output. By the way, the device is recognized by XMOS software as shown on picture.
About MAC I don't have it at work today but I can take screenshots tomorrow if that helps. Basically it was recognized as a sound output but wasn't playing sound when I was starting with itunes. This time I have no message error, song just doesn't launch, like when you try to stream to a bluetooth/airplay device that is turned off for example (don't know if this is clear sorry).
Have you any clue about it?
Thanks

Hi,
A Mac screenshot would be good; I am not familiar with Windows; and OSx has the drivers built-in, which takes a potential problem out of the equation.
Cheers,
Henk

check you have a valid audio master clock into the device.

Thanks for your replies
@Henk : Here are the screenshots, everything seems ok from my opinion but sounds is not playing, meaning that it is not.
@Ross : I took a print of the master clock, everything seems fine

It has its volume control set to zero - and it seems unsettable. This will mean no sound.
How have you configure the device?
Cheers,
Henk

I configured the device with several different configurations, like enabling/disabling UAC 1, changing I2S parameters...
The only two differences with the evaluation platform are :
- I don't have any DAC after xMOS chip, what I want to do is getting SPDIF/I2S signal. So I don't use I2C communication, could it change something?
- The system is self powered, but I changed the configuration according to this.
I must be missing something but I can"t find what. I you need any ressources like schematics or code, just ask and I'll post it there.

Hi,
I don't think it should try and communicate with a DAC if you haven't told it it has a DAC.
May be post the schematics? I can have a look.
Cheers,
Henk

Here are the schematics, hope that can help. But it is mainly based on the reference design, and the SRC AK is not currently mounted.
