CS2100 Multichannel Audio Platform

Post by xaerox »

Hello Everybody,
I have a question for the multichannel audio platform schematics, which you can find in the Hardware Manual.
On the clock-page there is a CS2100, which gets a 24 MHz clock from PLL611. What is the Output of this chip (24 MHz?). What does PLL-Sync?

The main question is: Is this IC important for synchronisize USB-PHY with Audio or the Device?
I have testet another ciruit without this CS2100 and USB-Audio dont works. So could the CS2100 be the main problem?

Kind Regards,
Thomas

There is a software controlled mux to use the MCLK from the PhaseLink part or the Cirrus Fractional-N clock multiplier.

The phaselink part generates two fixed mclk frequencies, one for 48k and one for 44.1k etc (selected using one i/o)

The fractional-N clock multiplier does what it "says on the tin" really - it multiplies up the SYNC input to a desired output frequency. The ratio is programmed via I2C. This device is useful if you want to sync to an external digital stream, say S/SPDIF to AVB clock master etc.
