Quick note: Having a bigger flash also enables you to use libflash for device firmware updates.
Bigger flash enables the storing of more than 1 image for redundancy, so you might have the factory firmware and an updated firmware, if the updated firmware fails then you can fall back to the factory firmware and not brick your device.
