Output's on 3.3V

Post by Ganux »

Hello,

I have an XC-3 board, and the output signal's are 5V.
Now I should connect it too a chip which needs 3.3V.
Is this possible, or do I need to do this in hardware?

Greets,

If the IC is 5V tolerant then you can connect it directly. If it is not, then you need a level shifter. The easiest, cheapest is a 1 kohm resistor (not always the best/safest use at your own risk). A 74LV1T45 or similar level shifter is of course preferred. There are numerous solutions around and every manufacturer has a wide portfolio :)
