xCORE 200 MC Audio Platform Guitar Modelling System Startpoi

Post by u12018202 »

Hi

I am currently in my final year of electronic engineering in South Africa. I have been developing a method of guitar timbre modelling with a supervisor for some time. I have been looking for a way to implement the developed (still rudimentory) modelling algorithms on hardware and have managed to get my hands on the xCORE 200 MC Audio Platform.

I have extensive experience with PIC microcontrollers, FPGA's and a TI DSP in the past but am having trouble with the dev board and developement environment in general. I know the DE is similar to Code Composer for the TI DSPs (due to the Eclipse base) but am still having trouble getting a basic program to run on the board (perhaps due to my familiarity with other DE's, I am stuck in my ways.

I was wondering if anyone would have advice as to where to start with the board.

Most of the program would be basic manipulation audio signals in the C (or xC) language which is no problem.

I am however experienceing trouble finding the appropriate place to begin. I am looking within the USB 2.0 Audio software for example programs to configure the appropriate ADC and DAC and perhaps some examples of the TDM use with the ADC and DAC. This is needed as I need to sample the signals of the strings of the guitars (up to 6 but perhaps 2 or 3 strings as a proof of concept would surfice).

The data transfer through the ADC and DAC (using up to 6 of the available 8 mono inputs and 1 mono output) will be perhaps the only interaction with the peripherals around the main xe216 chip  and thus I am trying to avoid complex programs such as the Gigabit Ethernet AVB endpoint example.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
