G4 Dev Board, 512 BGA

This project will be a development board (or platform) for the XMOS XS1-G4 512 BGA processor. I plan to include:
- Access to all of the processor's pins

- Headers for expansion boards

- On-board programming interface; power
The goal of this is to have a low-cost alternative to the XC-1A or similar.
I have found a company to make the 4-layer board for a small production run at an affordable cost (even affordable to me!) and I will be making a custom library this weekend for the G4 and the other misc components.

I dont want to ruin your party but I doubt it will be (significant) cheaper than a XC-1A.. A G4-512 costs about 27$, a 4-6 layer PCB with small production run is not that cheap. You need to get your PCB assembled by a company which will not be that cheap either (especially the 512BGA). Furthermore a BGA socket is very expensive.

Lets see what happens, would love to have a lower-cost alternative. ;-)

It would be much better to add general on board features. On board RAM would be great. RAM can be shared between two cores by using a dual access chip.

Ok -- thanks for the suggestion. I will most likely start making the 512 bga in eagle today once I get my chores and calculus homework done, and after that I can start really considering what this board should have.
