XMOS Down under

Post by RogerH »

Welcome to this meeting place for New Zealand and Australian users of XMOS Processors.
Aussies and Kiwis like to take the Mickey out of each other and that is okay. But please don’t forget that our mission should be to promote the use of XMOS processors down under.

XMOS processors are a new and exciting way of defining hardware so let’s hear your ideas for using the chips in new and imaginative ways.
If you are not a Kiwi or Aussie dont worry anybody is free to join in here.

Hi,

Welcome from your group manager.

I am new to XMOS, so new in fact that I had not heard of them until a couple of weeks ago. However having studied the documentation and followed this forum over those two weeks my mind is racing with possibilities that these chips open up.

My main interests are around motion control and I can see all sorts of possibilities that the chips have for high speed I/O.

I am also interested in coupling these chips to ARM processors of which my favourite at the moment is the LPC1768 from NXP.

Let's hear your ideas.

Cheers, Roger...

Hi Guys,

Thanks for joining the group.

I have come to XMOS after working with Atmel AVR and more recently NXP LPC ARM chips. After the initial rather steep learning curve I am really enjoying working with ARM they are great being so well endowed with peripherals. I use Rowley Crossworks for ARM as the C development environment. Crossworks is great.

I am currently investigating the possibility of interfacing the XMOS chips to ARM processors using XLink.

If this is feasible it opens up possibilities of communicating with individual XMOS threads directly from the ARM chips.

I will let you know how I get on with this.

Thanks again for joining the group.

Cheers, Roger...

Hi,
I am looking for contact who can work on future XMOS project as programmer. I am based in Sydney and primarily work with freelancers. Is this something of interest. Regards,

Ken
