Could you support us regarding noise and reset the XVF3510-QF60C?

Dear All,

Our equipment uses XMOS (XVF3510-QF60C) for MIC input and SPEAKER output.
The equipment provides voice communication with a terminal connected via internet.

We are the first to install XMOS.
We are beginners in XMOS.

Issue >>

The MIC data connected to XMOS or the voice data output from XMOS is heard as a loud noise from the terminal connected via the Internet.
The loud noise sounds like a loud creaking sound from a moving machine.
It is not a human voice. The sound from the MIC is not being played back.

Normally, it is a normal human voice.
These occurs occasionally (about 1 in 10 times) during the equipment power on and the first communication.

This issue does not occur when the equipment is communication without XMOS.

We guess that the output voice data of XMOS is output voice date is abnormal data.

When these issues occur, the equipment power is turned off and on.
Then the equipment communication is normal.

Current workaround >>

1 or 2 or 3

1. The reset signal output to RST_N of XMOS 55pin from the control board of the equipment.

The reset signal is 50ms low pulse width.

2. Retry communication.

3. The equipment power is turned off and on.

When the equipment power is turned off and on, the equipment is initialized.
The Initialization sequence is 50ms Low pulse is sent to RST_N of XMOS 55-pin after XMOS power supply stabilization and the equipment does not start communication 1sencond (wait 1 second).
Because XMOS need to read and write data form external serial FLASH memory.

Questions and want to advise >>

1. Why does these noise issue occur?
 If there are any possible causes or factors, please let me know.

for example,

After reset release, serial FLASH memory data is not written correctly to XMOS.

2. Is it correct? When such noise occurs, it asserts reset signal to XMOS.
  If asserts to reset to XMOS, are there any other risk?

3. Is there any problem if the reset signal is repeatedly asserted to XMOS during powered on?

Hi Toshio,
Sorry for the late reply. Can you provide more information about the firmware and the setup you are using? We would like to know:
1. What communication protocol are you using to send the audio samples? XVF3510 supports either USB or I2S.
2. Can you check if the device is still running when the problem occurs? I wonder if you have any way to check if the device can still receive control commands or if any LED is blinking.
3. The XVF3510 device has two output audio channels? Which one returns the noise: the left one, the right one or both?
4. Do you have any chance to check if the problem occurs if the device is not connected to your equipment?
5. Can you share the boot and data images you are using?
