CS2100 on XK-AUDIO-216 devkit

Post by breadbanana »

I'm revising some design, and i have a doubt. THE CS2100 is just for syncing with SPDIF input signals? if i'm not using it, can i remove it completley? or it is somehow generating another clock references?
if i got it rightly just the pl611 is the bare minimum to generate the clocks for 44100 and 48000kHz. is that right?

Thanks in advance

Yes, if you aren't using S/PDIF (or ADAT) input streams you can just use the PhaseLink PLL for your master clock, and then you don't need the CS2100 part.

About this subject yet, does xmos have any example of word clock implementation? I believe if it would be implemente CS2100 would be on the slave devices, right?

We've not added word clock sync to any of the software for our USB designs thus far.

It won't be a simple case of just deriving the CS2100 reference from the incoming word clock if you want it to be truly word clock synchronised
