Chaining XK-1A and slicekit PCIe adapter?

Technical discussions related to any XMOS development kit or reference design. Eg XK-1A, sliceKIT, etc.

Chaining XK-1A and slicekit PCIe adapter?

Post by pstnotpd »

Sorry people, I'm still on the very low end of the learning curve.

I was wondering:

Considering that the XTAG-2 is, as far as I'm aware, the same one as used for the XK-1A kit, is it possible to "chain" one or more XK-1A boards from the PCIe adapter, thus having an easy and cheap way to expand xcores? There is precious little information about the adapter board itself.....

Or to ask it more general: What are, apart from the physical slicekit connectors, the problems with connecting L1 or G devices to the L2 slicekit?

For instance, I could imagine something must be done to sync the clocks.

Code: Select all

Available XMOS Devices
----------------------

  ID Name Adapter ID Devices
  -- ---- ---------- -------
  0 XMOS XTAG-2 4fsSfkWP L1[0..2]
Haven't tested the link or standalone boot yet but looks very promising.
You won't be able to connect G devices through an XMOS Link to the slicekit coreboard though, G links are incompatible with L links.

Indeed! Keep us posted! :o)

Going forward on this theme, whatever happened to the XDIP1? This form factor seems ideal to create a "slice" for and then stack "tiles" at will. In the video a 2 core/tile version is mentioned as well.
