"It is related to the L1, L2, and L4 processors which are single, dual, and quad core."
A new L4 chip on the horizon? or does a L4 mean 2*L2 for an example!?
XS1-L4 ?

The 304pin QFP is maybe not so popular any-more
4*64 I/O pins + 48 for JTAG, clock/PLL and power.

Saw that a few months back.. but no further news on the Xmos website :?:
I'd prefer this with decent pin spacing than to try squash everything into a 'black hole'. This is the only thing preventing me from going 'full tilt' with Xmos at the moment. PCB real estate is not an issue when it comes to reliability/heat problems
:)
hope not.. I'm hoping for a single set of i/o ports (40-60 pins) and 3 other link ports giving a total of about 100 pins which is ok for a larger QFP, for heat dissapation.Wonder what the package will be, BGA probably.

If the L2 is any indication... then I do not think it will happen. The L2 could have been also a really fine pitch (0.4mm) TQFP-128, and not that LGA. Well... I'm still hoping for a 1.0 mm BGA (cheaper boards as you can go with 0.15 mm tracks) and any number of balls. Now back to my board...

There exists dual row QFN packages like the L2 with more than 300 "pins", but I do not know it that would be better compared to BGA. More PCB layers vs. very narrow PCB-tracks.
