Is a reset pullup required on the A8A?

Post by Hagrid »

I have been reviewing the example schematics in the A8A datasheet and note that the example does not show a pullup resistor on the reset pin.

Appendix part M.2 discussing the JTAG-only xSYS header suggests that this is necessary.

Reviewing the schematic for the startKit, I cannot see a pullup on the RST_N net.

I'll be putting one in my design anyway (harmless, can be omitted from assembly), but would like the point clarified.

The RST_N pin (for XS1 A series and U series devices only,  not L series) does indeed have an internal pull up.

See sction 4 (signal description):

RST_N | Global reset input | Input | (active) Low | PU, ST

It is not connected to a pull up on various XMOS A/U series boards as evidence :-)
